Zachary Bastille (he/him) is a queer interdisciplinary performer and artist from Gatineau, specialized in dance and choreography. He graduated with honors from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) (formerly Ryerson) in the spring of 2022 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts – Performance Dance. During his university career, he earned the Jack McAllister award for excellence in the field, and was nominated for the Hnatyshyn Foundation Award for Developing Artists.

Zachary has danced for several renowned choreographers and directors including Laura Brandel (Fever), Willi Dorner (The Bentway Conservancy), Colleen Snell (Frog in Hand Summer Company, Toronto Fringe Festival), Alysa Pires (Dance Ontario, TMU’s Dances) , Alyssa Martin/Rock Bottom Movement and Andrea Naan (TMU’s Dances), Angela Blumberg (TMU's Springworks), Apolonia Velasquez and Robert Glumbeck (Kenny Pearl Emerging Artists Intensive), and Avinoam Silverman (The Fleck Theatre). In addition, he recently performed an excerpt from Body and Soul by Crystal Pite, staged by Eric Beauchesne and Anna Herrmann, as well as a new creation by Alanna Moris at the Springboard Danse Montreal Showcase 2022.

Zachary hopes to continue developing his choreographic practice. His work on stage and screen has been selected and featured in various events including Terra Firma Festival, GarageTO Showing 2021 and multiple performances at TMU. Through his art, Zachary is interested in interpersonal and spatial relationships, and how the human body generates movement through its imperfect, emotional, impulsive, and sensitive nature.

Zachary Bastille (il/he/him) est un interprète et artiste queer multidisciplinaire originaire de Gatineau, spécialisé en danse et chorégraphie. Il a obtenu avec mention son baccalauréat en beaux-arts – Performance Dance – du Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) (anciennement Ryerson) au printemps 2022. Durant sa carrière universitaire, il a remporté le prix Jack McAllister pour l’excellence dans son milieu d’expertise ainsi qu’une nomination pour le prix de la Fondation Hnatyshyn pour les artistes en développement.

Zachary espère continuer de développer sa pratique chorégraphique. Son travail sur scène et sur écran a été sélectionné et présenté dans divers évènements dont le Terra Firma Festival, le GarageTO Showing 2021 et de multiples performances à TMU. À travers son art, Zachary s'intéresse aux relations interpersonnelles et spatiales, c'est-à-dire à la façon dont le corps émotif, impulsif, sensible et conscient de sa valeur humaine imparfaite et vulnérable génère du mouvement.
